It's a Man Thing

Glad you could join our blog hop.  Can't believe it is June already.  Time to let those dads know how much we appreciate them.  Hope you like my little gift box below.

Here is the completed box with ribbon tie and greeting.  Want to make one?  I  can show you how - just let me know by e-mail at mcgills75@gmail.com.

Wanted to show you the side view so you could see the stamped image I used to give a faux wood look.   I was going to use the new Hardwood stamp #133035, but ended up using the big stamp in Truly Grateful, #131733, as it fit perfectly on the sides and still gave me the look I was trying to achieve.  Sorry to see the Core'dinations paper, which is sandable, retiring.  It is fun to work with and really achieved a great worn wood look on the box top for the background behind the moose.  Particularly when I embossed it with the Woodgrain embossing folder, #127821, and then sanded it.

Here is the stamped top without the ribbon so you can see the image better.  These boxes are so handy for a quick gift container.  I sponged the grass with pear pizazz and the sky with pool party, then stamped the moose over the top.  Here is the list of products I used.

Stamp Sets:  Truly Grateful #131733, $19.95; Walk in the Wild #130357, $14.95
Card Stock:  Whisper White #100730, $8.50; Core'dinations Early Espresso (retired)
Kraft Gift Box:  #124106, $2.95/4 boxes
Inks:  Early Espresso #126974, $5.95; Pear Pizazz, #131180, $5.95; Pool Party, #126982, $5.95
Ribbon:  Natural 5/8" Chevron , #132982, $6.95; Linen Thread, #104199, $4.50
Accessories:  Labels Collection Framelits, #125598, $26.95; Extra Large Oval Punch, #119859, $16.95; Woodgrain Embossing Folder, #127821, $7.95; Stamping Sponges, #101610, $3.50

Last Chance Blog Hop

Oh so sad to see one of my favorite stamp sets being retired!  But just think of the new possibilities that we will see in June.  I loved this set for its versatility.  The two-step stamping of the flowers makes it easy to get realistic looking flowers using two colors - calypso coral and crisp cantaloupe.  I wanted to keep the card simple and I wanted it to be able to be mailed in a regular envelope so no embellishments.  But the layering of paper gives lots of depth and dimension.  Typically I would have to add some texturing but also wanted to keep it simple.  I used this for a card class and everyone loved it.  It is a five minute card.  I did cut out the flowers after I stamped them on whisper white and popped them up with dimensionals.  Hope you enjoy!!

Here is what I used to make this card:

Stamp sets:  Field Flowers, #122762(c) $17.95; Summer Silhouettes (c) 126447 $17.95

Paper: 2013-2015 In-colors Baked Brown Sugar 131296, Crisp Cantaloupe 131298; Whisper White 100730, Calypso Coral 122925

Inks:  Calypso Coral 126983; In-colors Pistachio Pudding 131177, Crisp Cantaloupe 131176

December Blog Hop

Thanks for joining out blog.  Hope you enjoy all the creative ideas everyone has put together for you.  All the ladies are awesome so please check them out!!  Thanks for visiting my blog.

I love our December theme of gift ideas.  I used a 12 x 12 piece of designer paper for the container and a strip of designer paper for the top cut at 6 x 3 1/2.  Added a scallop trim to the topper.  Punched a hole through the topper and container.  No glue or tape required.  Just scoring - all the ladies in my MOPS craft night loved these.

Below is a side view.  Hope you like the idea.  And I love the owl paper from last year's Stampin' Up theme.
Had paper left over so thought I would use it.  My grand children loved the owls.  They get to help with a craft each year and these are so easy for them to make.

I have a thing for snowmen so the current snowman set from Stampin'Up called SNOW DAY worked great for this tag.  He fit well in the framelits from Stampin' Up also.  Hope you like him.

Look how nicely the Thirty-One container works with the tag?  I am using a lot of these containers as my gift containers this year for Xmas.  Fits my snowman theme perfectly.

I am using these cute Thirty One gift containers for many of my Xmas packaging.  No wrapping paper - yahoo!!  I just recently signed up as a consultant for Thirty-One and just love it so check out the catalog HERE.  If you are interested you can e-mail me at mcgills75@gmail.com.

Look at the cute snowmen all around the container?  I just can't resist anything with snowmen.

I always pull out my old sets during the holidays.  I just love these cute little "marshmallow" snowmen.  They will work great as candy wrappers for little treats at my Xmas gatherings this year.
